East Hampton

East Hampton is a historic community that has worked hard to preserve its past, while becoming one of the most sought-after markets in the country. It’s a destination where the well-heeled come to vacation, shop, dine, and take advantage of some of the best sandy beaches in the U.S.

Celebrities, artists and weekenders converge here

Set against a backdrop of charming shake-shingle cottages, historic windmills and rambling English gardens lies the bustling town center of East Hampton. Here you will find a Main Street lined with Madison Avenue-caliber boutiques and designer shops, along with some of the East End’s finest dining. Spotting a celebrity at Citarella or the table next to you at Babette’s is the norm. On a Saturday afternoon, it’s practically impossible not to run into someone you know — whether a couple you met at the benefit the night before or your neighbor from the city. East Hampton beaches are world-class, but parking and permits make public access challenging.

Cottages with window boxes and expansive oceanfront estates

With a cast of notable residents, a busy social calendar of fundraisers and tennis tournaments, and some of the most exclusive addresses, East Hampton is perhaps the most exclusive East End enclave. From the historic homes along Egypt Lane, with their lush lawns, thick hydrangea plants and dense hedges, to the sprawling beachfront estates along Apaquogue Road, East Hampton properties offer a mix of old and new — but all of it is very pricey. It’s also the home of the storied estate Grey Gardens.
